Default Looking for wheeling shop in S. Florida

Subject should read: Looking for wheel painting shop in S. FL... (Not sure why the subject line is screwed up)

Anyways, I'm looking for recommendation(s) on where to bring my wheels to be painted. I'm avoiding the powder coating route. I also welcome suggestions of places I should avoid.

Thanks!

Supa Mags, near Dixie/Oakland Park (behind Peter Pan Diner). I'm splitting my OZ's myself and painting the centers. Will be bringing the rim halves to Supa for polishing and straightening once I re-assemble.

P.S. - Anyone who complains about the cost of refinishing wheels has never tried to DIY! Never again...

Yes, they re-finished a set of snowflakes for my Trans Am. I'd say they did an "OK" job...driver quality, not show quality. I'm only using Supa Mags to polish and straighten my rim halves, as I don't have a huge freakin' wheel lathe...doing the disassembly/painting/assembly myself.

Caveat Emptor: SoFLA is the epicenter of "suckage" when it comes to anything service-related. If you want show-quality wheels, you either have to do them yourself or send 'em out to a nationally known refinisher such as Al Reed, etc.

Picking them up tomorrow. They are being done by the guys at Vossen Wheels. I'll post some pix.

Turbax may be an option for you... they will pick up the wheels/tires, unmount, paint and remount and deliver them back to you. I didn't go with Turbax since I had pre-paid to have the tires re-mounted.

So who/where is "Vossen Wheels"? That wheel was painted? What did they use?

Vossen sell forged wheels under their own name, and they have a finishing shop in the Miami Free Zone/near MIA. Finish was done in gloss black with DuPont Standox automotive paint + clear coat. Painter did a good job.. didn't find any paint run. I can post contact info for folks interested.

Check out Wheel Omni off of Oakland Park.. the owners name is George. I used them recently where he polished and painted a set of 7s and 9s Fuchs. I was recommended to him by another PCA member locally.. He does very good work and very reasonable in costs too!
