South Florida dealers/service
Just moved to South Florida, wondering what people's experiences have been with the various Porsche dealers in terms of oil changes/ brake flushes/ 15K check ups (the sort of routine maintanence things), in terms of: the quality of the work, how the dealer service reps treated you, whether they provided you with loaners, and what the actual costs were (you can PM me regardign the last issue if you don't want to put actual #s up here). I called the Collection and they quoted me $892 for the 15K check up, so I thought I would turn to you guys and see what your experiences have been. Thanks.

There's Collection and Champion (up in Pompano). I don't really have experience on neither of them since for whatever maintenance I don't do myself (I do all oil fluid changes, brakes etc. etc.), I've used individuals.
I assume you have still warranty on yours so you want to use dealers.
If I had to pick, I'd go with Collection although last time I took my XJ8 there, they "robbed" me (charged $170 or something for changing a headlight bulb)...
I don't think Stealers, I mean Dealers have such great reputation anywhere in the Country but I can be wrong with some.

I think Jay Putnam in Delray Beach is an extremely good and fair independent shop. if you want dealer, I would go to Champion (avoid Braman as others have said)

Problem with Champion to us in Miami is that it's so friggin' far away. For example if you need an 30 min. oil change, you need to have 3-5 hrs for the whole trip... If you need to leave the car there, just to drop the car off is minimum of 2 hrs...
Jay's good independent (although even further) and other good one is Scott Finlay down in South Miami.

seems like prelim consensus is either champion or collection.
mine is under warranty so will definitely take it to dealer, but will keep jay putnam in mind once the warranty runs out.
why all the negative vibe on brahman, anyone have any specifics?
porschedog -- did you have problems at champion, or why do you take it to collection for warrany work?
brad -- what's your experience specifically with collection?

My negative feelings about Braman are based on the people I dealt with when I began the search for my car.
I got the distinct impression upon visiting the showroom that I was not up to their caliber of customer...upon which I drove 30 minutes south and bought my car at Champion. I dont want to sound like Im pushing Champion but Ive always felt good about the people I dealt with there.

I bought my car at Champion. It is a CPO - and what got my attention from the start was the list of the very obvious issues they missed or overlooked (non-functioning stereo speakers, falling visor mirror, etc) and then we had a major issue over a conveniently forgotten promise that I don't need to get into here.
On the other hand, in my experience, the guys at The Collection's service & parts departments go out of their way to make customers feel appreciated and will hustle the car thru if you need it in a hurry. To me, they are worth the extra 15 minutes drive time. Lots of folks love Champion, so if they do it for you, that's great.

There are four excellent shops in Broward. I would never go to a dealer.
I do most of my own work. Dealers are mostly prepared to work on new cars and not 993's I had a 3 horrible experiences with Champion.

dr90254, I am biased to the collection, if you decide to go there, ask for ralpheal montegudo, tell him you only want his team leader to work on your car, Promise that guy one take advantage of you, I know him pretty well......................
