Help Needed in South Florida for Auto Collision Shop!
Hi all,
I'm new here, and unfortunately not for happy reasons.
My beautiful new 718 Boxster GTS was rear ended today on the Florida Turnpike.
I'm desperately trying to find a good repair shop who knows how to fix Porsches correctly.
Can anyone recommend one? Many, many thanks in advance.

Horrible South Florida drivers. Were you stopped or rolling? Its a constant look out when I take my car out...from phones to mindless looking around these drivers down here are the absolute worst.
Call Porsche and get a recommendation...or Tuners in Broward.

Yeah I was on the turnpike, there was an accident ahead so everyone slowed down. I was pretty much at a stop. I immediately looked in my rearview mirror and saw this Tahoe bearing down on me.
I tired to move t the side but really had no where to go.
I consider myself a very aware driver and am always looking.
This is the one situation where you're helpless to others. No where to go. Just brace for impact.
Thanks for the suggestions.

Actually I photoshopped the plates out.
I got the car 3 months ago.
I appreciate the link, but all 3 in my area from that list have horrible reviews, and people who I know and trust also confirmed the reviews.
I wound up going with Fender Mender in Ft. Lauderdale.
I will give a review of them here as well after this is all done.
Maybe a while I'm afraid.

lol, i see that now that i looked more carefully.
i've never heard of Fender Mender, but it sounds like you've done some homework on them. i've only ever used PACC's but my experience with one in the Broward area (Stuttgart) was extremely mixed. their work is top notch, but we had the misfortune of dealing with a manager who was a total ***.
the next time, we tried Fantastic Finishes in Palm Beach...it's a bit of a drive from you, but the whole experience with them was excellent. the only issue is that they're expensive. i got hassled by my insurance company about paying their hourly rate.
good luck with your repairs!

Yeah I heard that about them and I also read really bad reviews about Fantastic Finishes, that's awesome that you had a good experience.
My fingers are crossed.
Also, Sister's Towing put a big scratch on the side of my door and ripped the bottom spoiler off. I can't win.

Fantastic Finishes charges a higher rate than most shops, I guarantee you will be fighting with the insurance company! I was dissappointed with their paint matching. The owner will not return your calls, and the mgr will do everything to keep from repainting! The shop is impressive though! I just had a rear bumper replaced after parking lot being backed into while parked.

find a certified porsche body shop.
The damage is minor, but the paperwork is worth going certified.
I could do it at my shop in tarpon springs, but im not certified.

So I'm happy to bring closure to this whole ordeal and report what happened:
1. Fantastic Finishes were GREAT. Robert the manager always answered his phone and took my calls. He also absolutely did the right thing and totaled my car. In order to fix they would have had to have Porsche custom create a piece of the sub frame, ship it from Germany, cut my car in half and put this new section on. Then put the motor back in and suspension etc.. Uh no thanks.. The time and money it would have taken was not acceptable to me and we pushed for a total. The value of my car would have took a major blow with a structural damage carfax, and since I purchased the car I would have lost easily $30k.
2. Progressive also did the right thing. Although a little slow, they took over 30 days to come to the decision to total it. But once they did decide I got a check the next day for a fair amount that covered what I owed plus some.
So my big lesson learned... NEVER buy a car in South Florida. Too many old people, people from other countries with less than adequate driving skills, people on their cell phones, impatient north east drivers (myself included), all add up to a big pot of driving chaos soup. I will only lease a car from now on.
I wound up leasing an awesome Audio SQ5 for half the price of the Boxster. No more worries about diminished value.
FUN FACT: In Florida you can only try to get a diminished value claim reimbursement if:
1. You are NOT at fault.
2. The person who hit you has enough Property Damage insurance coverage.
In my case the guy who hit me only had $10k of property damage insurance. So that's the max I could have gotten. This is the real crime here. How can Florida allow people to drive with such low coverage? What can you hit that will cost $10k or less to fix these days? South Florida has some of the most expensive cars on the road, and even hitting a new Toyota will cost $10k or more to fix.
Someday I will get a Porsche again, this was my 3rd, and I miss it already. But I'm sleeping much better at night knowing I have a great leased vehicle in the garage.
Thanks to everyone for their help!
