Das Renn Treffen 2018
Yeah, I know it was a bit of a goat rodeo last year; I was there, sitting in the lines for well over an hour, too.
996s were made to feel like lepers. Hopefully, that will not happen again.
However, we don't get many marque-specific events, so I'll go this year in hopes of seeing Magnus again.
Feb 11 8am to 4pm at Sunset Drive (hint: get there early)

A lot of people snuck out early. I was alllll the way at the end of the street (while it's a GT3, it is a 996 GT3, so I was that close to being banished to Leperville) so I was able to blast out around 3..

The Collection will have their breakfast again on Saturday and will be showing off the new Panamera Sport Turismo. Here's the link for anyone interested;

The more I think about how much of a goat rodeo this was last year, the less I want to go. I have a conflict Saturday or I'd do the drive portion.
(organized by the same folks who insisted they needed my car overnight to install a new set of tires. WTF? no thanks.
Enjoy if you go. Otherwise maybe (and I do not hold my breath on this actually happening) we can get back to our local GTGs like we used to do at Hooters

So I registered like a couple days after it was open on the site. I was all excited to go and bring my new toy. Then I read the email confirmation sent a couple days ago (Can't leave till 4PM). I hate being locked in doing something and like the ability to leave if I want. I will be coming from Boca Raton so I would need to leave super early to get there. Read last years 996 thread and am now not so excited. My significant other was going to go and now she said no way. Might ask my father if he wants to go, but again 9hrs and he will probably not want to go.

Get there by say 8AM which means leave house at 7AM - then not leave till 4PM. Ouch!! That's 9hrs and seems way too much for me. If the lines are like you guys described I am not going to wait hrs to get in (car may overheat - air cooled). Any thoughts?

I hope they learned from last year's event. Seems from the email I got last night they have specific lanes for check-in. The problem last year was the red carpet picture taking... that was one lane... Anyway I wanted to give it one more try otherwise next year just come down as a spectator...
