My first Porsche
Hi all,
My first post, about what my first Porsche will be. Some background first:
- I have about 5 months left on the lease of a BMW M235i. I love it, but it's time to jump into the Porsche world...
- I live in Manhattan. Whatever I get will be my only car (even one is a luxury)
- I do about 5,000 miles a year
- I don't have to drive on snowy days - I can easily avoid that (I think)
- I need to be able to get golf clubs in!
- I think I want to cap my purchase at around $70K
- I expect to keep the car for 5 years, maybe more
Right now I am thinking that I will buy a good used Porsche, probably CPO. I am thinking of a 997.2 C4S or GTS, or maybe a Cayman S or GTS. I'd appreciate any input from the knowledgable people here. Some things I'm thinking of:
- is it worth getting CPO? I like the idea of have 3 years of warranty
- is the 4WD 997 worth it for the few times that I might get caught in wintry weather unexpectedly? Again, I think it is.
- a good 2012 GTS or C4S would be at the top of my budget, but I hear that the 997.2 holds its value very well?
- what is it going to cost me to run these annually in terms of maintenance?
Thanks in advance!
