So far the changes are looking awesome. Can't wait for people to catch on and start using it more.
I'd keep the ads forever unless you are up against storage limitations. Then maybe archive off in a searchable text only format. Deleting pictures could save alot of room without losing the info.

I agree in keeping ads forever.
This then develops a searchable archive of what similar items have sold for in the past.
Ads are searchable, I assume?
edit - I see that there is a Marketplace search:

another suggestion:
Change the color of the text in many areas where the white text disappears against the white background;
http://forums.rennlist.com/marketplace/
Example:
Porsche cars
All models for sale..
You can't see the 'All models for sale..' text
Recent Ads: last day last 7 days last 14 days all ads - All that text is difficult to see.

I posted an ad in 997 Parts (where it exists even though the summary at the top of 997 shows there are zero ads) and it never transferred over to Marketplace. So I just had to re-post in Marketplace. Also, where can members access the "old classifieds" to copy & paste the text of my other ads?
Also, can you have the email notification (final thing when creating a listing) default to "Yes"? I would think everyone would want to be notified if somebody posts a question about the item.
The text is all "funny" too, where type and lines don't "line up". Let me know if you need to see a screen shot.
Any chance you can send a bulk email to all those that had listings in Classifieds to let them know about the change and invite them to post in the new Marketplace? I'm betting that 95% of the membership still has no idea and there are many good paying members that spent a lot of time creating all those classifieds that right now believe their cars / parts are listed for sale.
Under the Racing / DE forum, there should be a "Wheels / Parts" section.

The new Marketplace looks good, but how do I get to the old classifieds where most of the for sale items are still posted? I'm sure ther's a link, but I can't find it.
Update: Link is now visible in the page header.

I'd just have to say that when I first clicked on the new "Marketplace" I was utterly baffled as to where to actually find what I was looking for (ads for 996's).
You took what was a simple and intuitive set of ad listings, and generalized it into something that really takes effort to figure out.

I don't "get" the new classifieds and liked the old classifieds just fine, except tha I want a way to get alerts for searches. I agree with the other comments about too many subforums; when I first saw the new classified forums, I thought, "Wow, it's really junked up the list."

When I enter the Marketplace forum then select the Miscellaneous and General category, then click on the Other subcategory, it shows a 'Canada' link to an ad for Porsche parts.
Perhaps Canada needs to be it's own category under Miscellaneous and General?

The mini-thumb nails turn into larger thumbnails, but where are the super-sized photos? In the old classifieds, you could have a nice sized photo to see what the item is.
