Hi;
I had the same question. Are there more details on what happens if you do allow a username change? Such as:
1. Do our old posts stay exactly the same or the same with new username?
2. Post counter stays the same, does not go back to zero?
3. Is the importance of creating a suitable username stressed to all new Rennlisters?

Here are a few answers 
1) Your old posts will be updated with the new name as soon as the cache is refreshed (usually a minute or two..)
2) The post count stays the same - you don't lose any posts;
3) Folks can choose any username that is not previously taken.
