Default GT4 sub-thread

Hi,

There is a GT4 sub-thread in the “987/981” main thread. There is none in the 718 main thread. With the announcement of the 718 GT4 and Spyder, it looks like people are now posting on these models in either the GT4 sub-thread of the 987/981 main thread or in the 718 main thread.

I just wanted to suggest to either have a GT4 main thread and a Spyder main thread in the water-cooled section of the forum or at least create a GT4 sub-thread in the 718 main thread which links to the existing GT4 sub-thread.

many thanks!!

a 981 Boxster & Cayman forum

Folks, I added a new sub-forum under 718 for the 718 GT$ and Boxsteer Spyder. Hope this helps.

Best,

Bob

Bob,

Thank you for this, can you please have the moderators move all of the (still very active) 718 GT4 discussion topics out of the old forum and into the new one? Also, why not just have a specific section for Cayman as suggested above?

Thank you for the help.

Bob,

I also agree the GT4 and Cayman sections in general are a mess and confusing. I personally think one of the best threads in the forum is the "991 GT3 GT3RS and 911R" thread which happens to cover all 991.1 and 991.2 GT models. This covers multiple chassis configuration and motors including the GT2RS which has a very different engine.

I know that Porsche really confused things with the naming of the Cayman/Boxster after the 981 but I personally see a lot of value in combining the discussions as there is so much similarity. I recommend that there be one 981/781 GT4/Spyder thread. It does not matter where it is located to me. The 718 is simply a refresh of the 981 aka a 981.2 or a 982 and especially for the GT models, there are many more similarities than differences. Currently there are duplicate thread topics in the 718 and 981 forums and it is redundant in my opinion. Sure the 718 introduced at 4 cylinder turbo but at the same time the standard 991.1 and 991.2 forums are united yet the .2 introduced turbos across the line.

I am also confused why the 987 and 981 would be combined yet the 981 and 718 are separated? The 987 and 981 are completely different generations. But maybe that is too much to change this late in the game.

My vote is to combine the GT4/Spyder forums for now. Thanks for listening...
