Changing oil is almost always a very easy task. The only car I've had a hard time with is our Honda Odyssey, because the filter is right above the control arm (or something, can't remember) and it's impossible not to spill oil all over it. Dumb design.

I've done all sorts of 911s and our boxster when we had one. Never had any problems with any of them, except when I put a filter on too tight and had difficult getting it off. My own fault

OK reviewed video, looks easy enough. One dumb question, where do I take the used engine oil to dump it ?

It's a very easy process. That's why I was wondering why people pay big bucks for this job and wanted to share my thoughts on 17$ for labour to do it. The 911 is one of the easiest cars to perform an oil change.

Canadian tire will take it. That's why you pay a disposal fee when you buy it.

it wont be a problem for you at all. just make sure you torque the drain plug back to proper spec. if you have the magnetic LN drain plug make sure you DO NOT torque it back to oem spec, but to the lower torque setting that the aftermarket drain plug requires.

since we're on the topic, Canadian tire has has castrol syntec on sale this week 40% off (just bought a few jugs). if you use your canadian tire options/cash advantage master card, i believe one of them will also give you 4% cash back in rewards dollars as well.

Can't get much easier since you already have the lift. 20 minute job over a coffee & Siglo 1
You just need get the the filter wrench/socket.
Then a good supply of oil, filters & crush washers.

You need to get the filter socket from the dealer or online. I couldn't find the right one at Part Source nor Canadian Tire. I even tried one of those universal sockets with no success. Also use the right sized socket for the drain plug. This part is made from soft aluminum and its easy to strip with too small a key.

Someone mentioned to take used oil to Canadian Tire. They wouldn't accept it when I tried about a month ago. Maybe it depends on location. I had to take mine to hazardous waste disposal site.

You actually want the oil to be warm since it flows better and will be easier to drain. Wait an hour after driving the car and you should be OK.

depends on the car. I have an external oil cooler and get the engine super hot . I drive the last km or so in a low gar to ensure the temp spikes and the thermostat to the external cooler is wide open . I then whip in and dump the oil immediately and just leave it. I get the most out of my car by far doing it this way and does not trap any in the external cooler. ( well minimal anyway )

If your in TO we have a resource, Toxic Taxi. Turns out its not transport home from a night out but a great method of hazmat disposal.
The link is on the Toronto 311 site if you poke around a bit, basically you email a list of your material for disposal, they send back a date when a truck will be by to pick it up. I put out 40L of oil, cans of paint, batteries and a few cfl bulbs couple hours later it was gone, great inspiration to finally clean out the garage.
