What oil to use?
Folks in Canada and specifically in Vancouver, what oil do you use in your 997.1 Carrera S do you use?
I have been reading different info and I cannot find the right answer. Molly, Mobil 1, Shell, Castrol and then there is 0W-40, 5W-50, 10-W40
Can you please guide me?

I always use Castrol Edge 5w-40 since it regularly goes on sale for ~$32 at Canadian Tire. It is Porsche A40 (and BMW) approved. I seems to keep the engine a little quieter than Mobile 1.

I've run Castrol 5w40 or 5w50 in all modern Porsche's for years now, no issues.
If it' more consolation, a couple 'local' dealers have recently made the switch to Castrol from Mobil and owners are reporting lower oil burn and quieter engines.
Rotella T6 5w40 is another great oil
I have VOA's of a few popular options....

It's not A40...but it's proven to keep engines alive...
Diesel/classic/race formulas are allowed to have the good additive packages 'mainstream' oils cannot...

To me Castrol is crap, nothing like it used to be back in the day. I won't even run it in my lawnmower.
