Would you 997.2 4S + 964 > 991 GT3?
So I was out at a dealer helping a friend build a 991 4S yesterday & long be hold sales guy and I starting chatting. I made a mistake of admitting how much I love 991 GT3. He proposed somewhat of a doable trade with both my 997.2 Launch edition C4S spec'd really well and 964 for a 2014 Base 991 GT3 (No crazy options)....
Not gonna lie..It had me tossing and turning all night...
Might have to iron out some figures but we weren't that far off..
Would you do it?

I wouldn't. You've currently got the best of both worlds - a modern, powerful, comfortable 911, plus a classic. The 964 is appreciating in value, and likely will only continue to go up in value. They ain't making any more of those. The 997 is still depreciating, but well into the curve, and past the steepest part. The 991 is in the midst of the steepest part of the depreciation curve, and while it's a GT3 so less prone to depreciation, it will still lose a lot of its value. They're still making these.

Not for a 991.1 GT3
PDK only and have you read up on the engine issues?
Pass...

if you are driving the 997 during weekdays as your DD, then I think that is the better option than the GT3. Still... tough choice. Always nice to change things up every once in a while. Personally, I wouldn't focus on appreciation and depreciation. What's the point?

100% Nope.
You've got the desirable duo of classic and modern.
Don't pawn it off for a glorified spaceship (sorry 991 owners).
The looks and speed will be fun at first, but the 'experience' will quickly feel dull once you become accustomed to it.
There is a reason that enthusiasts look backwards in time to find their ultimate driving joys.
IMO the new 911's are developed to be palatable to anyone, so that your wife and grandmother can drive them without error or complaint.
The old ones tickle all the right spots for an automotive enthusiast, and based on the cars you DO own, I think the Gt3 would be underwhelming to own in the long run.

you have variety, a beautiful 964. I would maybe take a new .2 gt3 with pdk (why would you want a slower manual), but not the .1 - serious $ difference though.
To call at new GT3 an appliance is ridiculous.
If you want a track car though, then yes.

I'd say yes. I have a 76 with 3.2 euro engine. Absolutely love it........ but. I just got a 997.1gt3 with 20k on it. I hate to say it but I haven't even looked at my old car in two weeks. I know the 991 is different then the 997 gt3s but the theme here is a change is nice. And a gt3 is gt3. Also on the list for 991.2 gt3. But for now the 997 is awsome. Turned down a legit offer of 65 k for my 76. Wondering now if that was a mistake. I'd say go for it. Quantity down.... quality up. (Not to say your cars are of lesser quality, just a saying I made up.). Go for it and don't look back.

Wao thanks everyone for some great feedback. Some really good points, like most mentioned hardest thing for me would be to separate with my 964. Having driven 991 GT3 & even 991 RS..
Honestly the joy and smile I get from behind the wheel of my 964 is priceless & I think for that reason I am just going to keep these two.
Also my 997 4S is heavily spec'd car which I also find quite rare. Launch edition , Matte paint from dealer, Carbon buckets, PDK , sport chrono etc & only 56k mileage.
Not to mention I received 4 PM's after creating this thread asking if I am interested in selling my 964. That must speak supply & demand.
