Default It was fun while it lasted !!!!!

First time in 11 years of ownership my car has seen a flatbed. Not too bad for a 40 year old car I would think.
Guy took great care in pulling her up and unloading her.
This was at 1130 last night.
I don't think it's serious but I will update later.

Better the car than you 'cause it'd be pretty funny to see you dragged up on a flatbed.
Fingers crossed it's minor.
I'll loan you my engine model for reference if you like.

clutch failure ..... there was a big bang.... so im thinking, snapped clutch cable, broken pivot arm , or clevis pin at the pedal cluster.

no matter how I look at it I have some crawling under the car to do.

Verdict is in !!! I'm pretty sure clutch cable is supposed to be longer than this. !!

.... and yes I threw out my emergency spare last year after carrying it for 10 years in the front of the car.

First tow, impressive! I'm become a bit of a pro at loading onto a flatbed...

Good to hear it's only the cable - cheap and easy fix (well, relatively easy)

Yeah Christian I need to address a couple of rocker shaft leaks and do a doctor colour chip

This is the time I guess while my cable gets delivered.

Between my old VW's and 914 I always seem to break a clutch cable every few years.
CAA+ has always paid off for me in flatbed tows.

I broke a cable in my '67 bus coming home from the June jitterbug in Niagara Falls a few years back, I was able to start of in 1st gear and no clutch into gears no problem to get home.
Last year I broke a cable in my 2.6L high compression 180hp bug, no way would the starter push the car in gear, had to flatbed for that one.

Yeah when it snapped I was just pulling into a parking spot. I had arranged to meet someone there. In hind sight Maybe i should have just cruised home in first. I was a bit concerned about traffic so decided to park it and use sons caa. Better move overall i would say as we were safe in a parking lot. Coming up behind Someone in traffic or a red light could have been a nightmare with no clutch. Then I'd be stuck out on the road.

Have driven cars with failed clutch cables in the past home in an emergency. It's doable if you can figure out the sweet spot during downshifts. Upshifts and putting into neutral are easy as are starts in 1st with the starter.
