Default Cayenne diesel

Anyone have any insight into when Porsche will be releasing 2015 - 2016 Cayenne diesels? I'm in the market for a new SUV, want to get rid of my 2009 X5 35d and would like another diesel. I drove the Cayenne petrol and would like something with more torque. Also considering the Range Rover Sport HSE TDV6.

I was at Pfaff a couple weeks ago and the sales guy said they weren't allowed to sell them yet but that they would be sold as pre-owned. Just checked auto trader in the US and a bunch of 2016 are listed for sale so I assume they will release them in Canada soon. Wonder if they will offer big discounts. Heard VW was discounting the Toureg by about 8k.

I think news has been slow on the 3.0TDI's. We have an '11 q7 diesel, and don't know what is up with it.

We have 180,000km on it, and contemplating doing a tranny fluid change on it sometime if we are keeping it... but I think the fluid is about crazy expensive...

Tad off topic but how was your experience with the X5 diesel?

Friends don't let friends buy Range Rovers! The reliability on these cars is horrendous.

Just to give you an idea, I had a 2013 X5d and traded it in for a 2016 Cayenne Diesel (literally a week before the stop sale). The CD is night and day a much better SUV, although the BMW iDrive is years ahead of PCM/Nav.

In terms of reliability, I had the injectors changed twice on the X5d and another warranty issue (BMW always fixed everything without question). Apparently the injectors are a known sore point with it. The X5 also chews through tires in no time. In less than 45,000km, I had to replace both my winter and summer tires.
The CD gets way better gas mileage, drives better, and is way easier on tires (50,000km and still same set of tires with good life left).

I've put a lot of miles on the x5 and we've done many road trips....its really good on long hauls and the gas mileage is awesome. Thats the good part....here's the bad part...we have had a lot problems with the DEF systems and changed the DEF resevoir tank twice (thank god on warranty). Changed the exhaust cooler. Also had a lot of problems with the airbag suspension, changed both rear airbags and now likely need to change the compressor. Glow plugs also need to be changed. The car is a 2009 and has 183k. If it wasn't for all these problems cropping up I'd probably keep it but as the value plummets to zero I just can't bear to sink more money into it.

If I choose the Range Rover I will lease it and send it back before the warranty is up...

Spoke to a sales guy at Downtown and he said their are a lot of CD sitting at the ports and if I have the luxury of time I should wait. Other than that he had very little info.

Many thanks. Sorry to hear this though as was hoping to get back into BMW. May have to stick with Honda

I traded my 2010 X5d in for a 2016 base Cayenne as I couldn't bear the repair costs anymore. Over the last three years of out-warranty-ownership, I replaced the whole diesel emissions system one $3,000 piece at a time for $9,000! Then there was the parking brake sensor malfunction that would have cost $2,200 to repair. We loved the vehicle - mileage, torque, ride comfort, but it was horribly unreliable. Love the Cayenne!

I feel exactly the same way! I test drove the base 3.0 Cayenne and liked the ride handling and the really liked the over all feel of the vehicle. The one part i found a bit lacking was the power, missed the passing power/torque of the X5. That's why I want to wait for the diesels to be re-released. How did you find the transition, especially day to day?

For day-to-day driving, I put the Cayenne in sport mode. It has plenty of power and is fun to drive. Yes, I too miss the torque of the X5d for passing. On the highway to pass, the Cayenne drops a few gears, revs up, and slowly gains the momentum to pass. Certainly not like the X5d - the X5d just bolted when directed to pass. The other noticeable on the Cayenne is slow speed turn-in - it is not as crisp as my 991 or the X5d. However, notwithstanding the above, I have been very happy with my Cayenne base to date.
