991.2 GT3 Allocations.
#826
I think the prices are going to be moving down soon. There are a lot of GT cars for sale right now compared with back in 2015. My RS will be heading back to the dealer soon and I will be getting much less than what a used 2018 GT3 is asking right now.
I'm curious, will people pay the same price for a 2018 GT3 as they would for a 2016 RS?

Hi,
I've just started my search and have been reading some of the Canadian posts on GT3 allocations.
Is it true that all 991.2 GT3 allocations are spoken for now? Is it not even possible to get on a waitlist with a deposit? I'm new to the process and starting to understand how crazy the GT3 allocation is!

Yeah. That ship has sailed. Now you’re looking for a second hand one, likely at a premium.

For the most part, wait lists can be pretty arbitrary. Certainly dealers will take your deposit today on a 992 GT3 but that doesn't mean you'll get one. It's not a first-come, first-served system.

Some information about yourself would be helpful if you want us to provide any sort of useful advice.

About myself: longtime enthusiast but looking to be a first-time Porsche buyer. Work in Medicine in London, ON. Looking for a red/black NA car such as a GT3 with a 6-speed manual. Not looking for many options. Looking to keep forever, not interested in flipping/selling. Willing to wait 3-4 years no problem, and shop around the country no problem. I recognize that waitlists are arbitrary and ridiculous but apart from knowing people on the inside, I don't know how else to get one.

Best bet. Buy any 911 in London and at the same time put yourself on the wait list for a 992 GT3. Get yourself established as a Porsche customer and discuss the "wait list " at the same time.

I am expecting my first Porsche arriving mid Dec 2018 (991.2 C4 GTS) and my SA, who is great, told me to buy a Macan for my wife which would put me in a better position to ACTUALLY get a 992 GT3. As mentioned, no guarantees. He mentioned brand loyalty and the many people who have been long time Porsche customers and how they cannot be forgotten re: allocations and so on...which I personally don't give a **** about. How is a brand supposed to expand its customer base without premium model availability? Transparency would also be appreciated but that will never happen either.

As for the Macan thing... if you were gonna go down that road, I'd want the deal IN WRITING from the manager saying that you'll definitely get the car you want at MSRP and with any details needed for the deal (such as trading the Macan back in at a certain price or whatever...)
I know someone that had that sort of a verbal agreement and it all amounted to nothing in the end.

Not for nothing... but a GTS is DEFINITELY a premium model.

I do, but it seems misguided. You can't go out and buy a 488 Pista either. Hell, you probably can't even buy a base model 488 without jumping through a bunch of hoops. You CAN go out and buy a new 911 any time you like, and can fairly easily get most of the more premium versions of it. You just can't get a GT3.
"Expanding their customer base" doesn't mean selling the most limited model to anyone that wants one. Frankly, a GTS is probably the best model for most people whether they realize it or not.

I suppose for anyone to promise someone a car that is like 2+years away might be stupid. I can't help but think the 992 GT3 list is already a mile long.
