Default How do you pass emissions?

Hello,
to all those who have the vintage porsches (96 and older), can you tell me how you pass emissions? Is it done with the same standard on the current modern cars?

thanks.

Same standard. It wasn't a problem.

Make sure your O2 sensor is ok, change the oil and air filter, put in Sunoco 94 and go for an hour of spirited run on the 401 before you hit the testinf facility. There is a good one on Warden Ave just south of the 401 on the east side, just south of the Shell station. First come first served and they do not do repairs there!

What nonesense - fresh air?

I think E-testing is a great thing - it keeps 90% plus of the true smog bags off the roads and is lax enough (no road side testing) to let enthusiasts skirt the reqirements if they choose.

Lastly - the "rolling road" appraoch allows AWD cars to get certified easily.

All good news to me.

but older cars like the porsches (other than C4s) have to endure a tougher test than awd cars. i like to know how does an 80s-early 90s porsches pass.

I've got an 87 928S4 with the original stock cat/exhaust system (got to love SS parts). I passed the BC emissions test with lots of room to spare.

have to say my 84 passed after a new set of wires (I had a missfire that also got fixed with them and a new tank of 94 octane fuel, a good run and that was it. The car had been standing for some time previously though, why do you think yours will fail?

I've used it on every porsche I've owned , 76 ,78 ,84,86, 89, all were 911 derivatives.
Although you don't need an E-test, (83 not required) it can also let you know the condition of your fuel injection. CIS can be finicky.
