2019 no more Porsche NA engines….

And platform sharing? Another end of an era.

I wouldn't read too much into that.
Here's an article from them that says the next GT3 will have the same 3.8L engine as the last one.

We'll know in a few weeks whether they're actually reporting on facts or whether they just blurt out rumours they've heard as though it were actual reporting.

knowing Porsche they will stop making the NA engines, sell the last ones for silly markups and then a year later come out with a special edition car that has NA for another big markup
these new regulations work well in their marketing plan

I agree there will be runout special on the 991. Wait till the 991.2 GT3 and RS come out...everyone scrambles for them. Shortly after, an equivalent to the 4.0 shows up , edition of 600.........happened with the 997.2RS.....

Anything limited to under 1000 cars, like the 911R, is irrelevant to us mere mortals anyway.
Cute that they make them, I guess, but they don't have any impact on the general populace.

I don't think Porsche had any intention for them to impact the general populace... except for maybe fueling chatter on internet forums.

It will get worse and here is why: The current estimate is that the new hybrid engines (they have no choice to meet the CAFE regs) will likely add about $10k in cost per car and the likelihood of passing all that cost onto the consumer is zero!
So you produce a limited run of older generation cars (and get nailed with CAFE penalties due to their poor FE) and play the nostalgia card and double if not triple the margin (currently around ~ 16%) on that limited sold out before they are even produced run. Porsche has it down to a science and their well heeled customer base continues to lap it up.
Its quite comical actually how they continue to play the "exclusive" run game. They paid close attention to the Italians on that one.
