Tahoe Z71 STOLEN
#46
Years ago we had a Dodge dually with a cummins motor stolen a day or so later the police found it a couple of blocks away, stuck in a ditch motor running and wheels turning. Insurance changed fluids end to end, even a full interior detail due to cigarette smoke.

Update
I saw the truck today. The only thing missing were my sunglasses, and I-phone charger. The tools were still there.
Some wiring behind the glove box were un-hooked, the OnStar antenna is loose, and there's a scratch on the drivers door from breaking the lock.
The insurance company had an oil change done (part of theft recovery) wheel alignment, and checked for codes (none found).
I should get it back later this week.

You'd throw out your tooth brush after your house was robbed right?
So get the insurance company to pay for detailing and if they balk, just get it done on your own dime.
Start again with a clean slate with that great truck.

The vehicle wasn't driven far. It had a full tank of gas and I re-set the trip odometer when I filled the tank. It only shows 94 km.
As far as detailing the shop it's at does excellent work. I've used them before. They did the re-paint/colour change on my old SC.

Could be it got stolen to steal something else. A friend had his POS Mazda stolen and returned to a lot nearby - like a joy ride, except locks very cleanly broken and no prints or any other trace. Police said it could have been "borrowed" for some illegal activity. Sorry you had to deal with this.

Unfortunately thats probably the case. A big car like that is needed for escapes or yanking an ATM or ramming attacks. So it was probably stolen on order. I hate thieves.

I'm still don't have it back yet. Parts on order from the States. Maybe Monday I'll get it back.
I actually like the Jetta I have as a rental.

Well I got it back today, everything is fixed.
But get this.
I was going through the everything that was left in the box. I found a 3/8 Mastercraft socket set and an 18 inch screwdriver. This stuff wasn't mine or the body shops. I wonder if the screwdriver was used to punch the lock. It was in rough shape.
Could these guys that stole the truck be that stupid?

Generally, yes.
