Unexpected yes, but not surprising. He's been in F1 for 11 years, he has a young daughter and he just won the world championship. IMHO now is the perfect time to hang up his hat and start enjoying life. Plus, I am sure he's totally fed up with having Lewis as his teammate.

They'll probably just pull Wehrlein from Manor and see how well he does. With the new cars for next year, it would be the perfect time to phase him in.
