Default Anyone seen new Clarkson show?

Amazing amounts of money spent and they did a 918 vs. P1 vs.LaFerrari compare.

Definitely worth a look on Amazon. I use Amazon prime anyway so it was free.

My wife and I watched it last night. Missed the Stig but we both thought it was pretty entertaining. It is off but I can't put my finger on it. They may be trying to hard to NOT be Top Gear. The reality is that they are more Top Gear than Top Gear is.

That's because the trio ARE top gear. A rose by any other name and all that...

I would agree the studio dialogue was a bit rough, too obviously scripted, but I'm sure that'll work itself out.

I thought the opening bit with the "burning van" festival and the flyover was a massive middle finger to the BBC saying "look, we can say what we want and we have a massive budget". I got a real kick out of that

Can't wait to see the next episode!

Thought it was Meh all around, I think because I've seen a million reviews already on the "Holy trinity". The test track sucks big time, its more of a auto cross like track with such narrow turns and such.

It was 9/10 for me. The studio segments felt awkward almost as if it was forced upon them.

Agree to all the above.

I think the test track isn't the greatest, miss the Stig, even the celebrities that drove on track, some were quite entertaining.

I didn't even really notice the Stig missing, and definitely don't miss the star in a reasonably priced car segment. I didn't really care about 90% of them - didn't know most of the British ones.

My own sense was that the banter between the guys was very staged. ALso I am waiting to see if they really say anything negative about cars. The BBC is not advertiser supported so Top Gear could say whatever it wanted. Just wondering how Amazon will play if they really pan a current car………..

Incredible production values though.

I found top gear always carefully played both sides of the coin. Never wanting to really put off any car manufacturer of influence. ( tesla aside of course)
It was predictable how every review started with how horrible a car was and ended with how fantastic it was.
I imagine just more of the same.

I don't think so. Clarkson was very critical of the Lexus RC-F but praised the LF-A.. Read his articles he isn't worried to voice his opinion about a car. Big name auto journalists and Clarkson is the biggest will have NO problems getting press cars to drive compared to someone lower down the food chain.

Source one of my best friends is an auto journalist.. they wrote a pretty scathing review on a certain cheap car (That's name is shared by a vegas casino) by a manufacture that makes also happens to make A/C units and made something called an A6M Zero. There was a good amount of back lash... but the article was 100% true. This same person also wrote a few bad reviews for another manufacture and was actually "banned" from driving their cars for a year.

+1, haven't seen the new show yet...but can this about the old show.
Really only thing I truly enjoyed were the old shows 'adventures'...ie. best road in Europe in GT3RS, Aston, Gallardo..etc...

I'd give the show a solid 9/10 too.

Best quote was in reference to the 918 having 4 wheel steering..."You mean like the Honda Prelude?....Ummm No."

I liked it, the format was very similar to Top Gear, along with the scripts.

I did not like the race drivers, I would prefer that they actually review the cars objectively, maybe a driver interview without the BS sub titles.

Hopefully in future shows they get back to their old shenanigans.
