Did some touring in the UK...
I recently was in the UK for 9 days and had a chance to visit a few car/race related things when time allowed. That's a lie I specifically planned out this stuff as it was along the way.
After spending 2 days in London we headed back to LHR to pick up our hire car. Budget was the cheapest place as I used Costco to make the booking and ended up with this lovely coupe...
I wish...
Our actual hire car, Which was still fantastic and manual gearbox.
From LHR we headed to Oxford for the Mini Plant tour. I've done the BMW tour in Munich and at Mini you saw much more of the working factory. We were pretty much 3-4ft away from all the assembly. For whatever reason it was only myself, girlfriend and our South African tour guide. Worked out great! Sadly no photos on the actual tour that lasted about 2 hours
As we were heading north I took a detour through Milton Keynes/ Northampton.. As we were passing through Brackley my GF pointed out and said "Hey look at that Mercedes dealership".... I had done my research and had set a goal of taking 3 photos of me in front of an F1 team HQs sign. The easiest were going to be Redbull, Force India, McLaren, Williams..
First though a trip to Silverstone was needed. The surrounding raceshops were very impressive. I stopped in at one to visit a friend but didn't stay long as they were packing up and getting ready to head to Spain for testing. Motorsports there is on an entirely different level compared to here.
Across the street from Silverstone you will find Force India F1 formerly known as Jordan F1. Sadly there was NO entry into this place unless you felt like scaling a 8ft high wall... or following a car in...
Next we headed to Milton Keynes and Red Bull Racing. Red Bull is very open, it's in a business park and for the most part very open. An employee saw us taking photos outside and said we could enter the reception area to see the trophies and grab some Redbull if we wanted. The nice man also got me some Verstappen and Ricciardo autographed cards. Very Cool!
Our adventure continued....
We spent a few days up in Liverpool, Manchester and the Welsh border. Great areas with some great scenery and roads...
The headed back down south for a few days near Bristol/Bath and back to London.
Bristol was a great city
As I had mentioned I wanted to get 3 photos of me in front of an F1 team... I left the best for last

Enjoyable pics. Any of the GF? My neighbour has a manual Audi Estate Wagon. Was astounded at how much the dealer was willing to give him for it over a comparable automatic.

Wooo hoo Donington Park. My old home circuit, spent many a happy track day there. Have to say I'm impressed. I lived there for 40 years and never got to the Redbull or Force India factories.
If you ever go back try and coincide with the Goodwood Festival of Speed, its simply awesome.
Nice to see a fellow "Petrol Head" in the home country.

I have some friends that live in Faygate, They go to Goodwood every year. I was unable to attend as the summer months for me at work are busy. Even taking 9 days off was difficult.. I love the UK, there is a race track or some race team around every corner. I went 2 years ago and attended the BTCC season finale at Brands Hatch!
Next trip I'm booking an arrive and drive. I was going to do one at Castle Combe but couldn't pass up the Chelsea vs Leicester City match.

Really enjoyed this Greg. Thanks for posting.
We were in Holland in June and rented an A1. Fantastic as well. Got 300 Euro's worth of speeding tickets with it.
