Default Porter Cable random orbit polisher on sale at Canadian Tire until October 6th

It's on for $186.99 until October 6th.

I purchased one of these about a year ago and it's a high-quality unit. Yes, you can spend $500+ on a Rupes, but this does the job extremely well.

I saw that too. I've been looking for one for a while now, but that is a pretty sad sale price for CTC. There are other online options out there cheaper. In fact there is a dealer on Kijiji in Montreal that sells these for $165, but doesn't ship. If you knew someone or traveled to the area, I looks like a good deal.

Wonder if the Kijiji units are refurbs? May be guaranteed, but not necessarily 'new'.

Might want to check.

Best,

Matt

Porter Cable began cutting corners on their tools over the past few years. The older 7424 random orbit models, with the cast metal body, are far better units. The RO action is nicer and the bearings are much better for longer life. There are lots of used ones out there, so you should be able to find a MUCH better tool at much lower price than the 7424XP.

+1 Just confirmed he only deals in person. Great deal otherwise.

I have one of the older ones but I gota tell you your shoulders start to ache after a while if you don't do this for a living, the thing is kinda heavy. But no doubt is good quality .

I got mine when the dollar was at Par on Amazon for 120$.... It still 119$ USD or 160 CDN.

Canadian Tire pisses me off. Everything they sell is massively overpriced compared to other retailers. I am not even comparing them to Amazon but rather WalMart, Home Depot etc.

Yea the Porter-Cable does an ok job. The Rupes works faster and corrects those pesky issues that you just can't correct with a Porter-Cable. 90% of people will be fine with a Porter. The Rupes is that 10% better some are looking for. Is it worth the extra $. Not to me.

CTC has a 14 day price guarantee so they'll refund the diff if it does.
