Forgive me Rennlist for i have sinned...
A local main road in town was reduced to one lane right after an intersection , the city provided about 200 feet after the intersection then had graduated pylons to close the lane .
I was first off the light and was accelerating forward , got through the intersection and in my side view mirror saw a white BMW dart out of the line of traffic behind me into the closing lane and floor it .. was about 10 cars back .
i saw ( more heard ) him coming and could have backed off , but thought , naw, im just going to keep the same rate of acceleration , why should i back off because he is being a douche bag. as i watched him close i thought holy crap he isnt backing off. I took a quick glance in my rear view to notice the guy behind me saw him too and decided he wasnt letting him in either.
I just looked straight forward expecting some kind of impact, i didnt hear any brake squeal but i sure saw a lot of orange and black flying everywhere.
i realize i did wrong, just because he was being a d-bag didn't mean i had to also ..
But i like to think maybe an afternoon with rubbing compound on his brand new white BMW will teach him some kind of lesson.
end of confession ..

actually Stan strangely enough I tried NOT to look , when I could see he was not going to make it I was eyes forward gripping the wheel firmly. then saw from my peripheral vision all the orange and black go by.

It could have ended even worse had he attempted to get in front of you and clipped your front end...
Many of these guy's have target fixation, (which sounds like this guy) and can't do the math and SEE they aren't going to make it.
I saw something like this happen between a Vette and one of those 707HP a$$holes only this was a lane ending a few hundred feet down from a set of lights. 707HP x large curb + shrubs = Mr. Bramalea made a tow service happy...
But at one point it looked like he was about to cross into on coming traffic and or take out the Vette and both cars go into on coming traffic.
So a$$holness isn't limited to Munich built vehicles.

I had this happen to me once as well in my Cayman. It was on a looping on ramp. I went fast through the loop and then slowed a bit to merge into traffic. Then I see a big 300 SRT coming up behind me trying to pass me in the soon ending merge lane that I just left. He was clearly committed and was not going to be able to get in front of me. I tried to slow down to let him pass so he didn't side swipe me but it was too late for that as well. I think he hit the end curb pretty hard but at least he didn't hit me.
Lesson learned. Now I don't give anyone that opportunity. You probably did best by not looking and just driving normally.
