I require a drive clean test but am reluctant to go the local shop because they want the key and to drive it into the shop. I would prefer not to let someone drive my car. Suggestions? Also, running out of time and not near a dealer.

997.1GT3 RS 6 speed. I will ask if I can sit in the passenger seat. Just seeing what others do. It may be I am a little to possessive but you know....it's an RS.

I share your angst. Can you drive right up to the door, and push/roll in the last 5 meters? Use the tow hook.

Can you "tip" them, and they let you drive it in?

Check out the Dekra locations, no mechanics on site all they do is drive clean and inspections. I am going to take wifey's Boxster S and the 993 there. Place is brand new and you can eat off the floor.

The one near me is at Kipling and Dundas. I am sure if you pull up in the RS they will let you pull it into the bay.

It's worth a shot offering a tip. I will call around tomorrow to the local shops and see if anyone is willing. Curious to see what everyone else does. I was going to the Trillium track day a few years back as I needed the tech done. The technician hopped in my car and immediately left the parking lot rather than driving into the service bay. I just about killed him when he came back. At no point did I ask for a test drive or expect one. It left a sour taste in my mouth.

Make sure their hands are clean and nothing in their pockets or on their belt.

And remind them the RS comes with door handles. Use 'em! No grabbing the paint or the glass.

I've taken all my cars including my P-car to a local "Oil Changers". They always allow me to drive the car right into the bay. All they need to do is start the car and plug in the OB2 sensor, and then once they are done I drive it out. Then again, I can only speak for the single location in Mississauga.

I tell them I have a race clutch that's temperamental. I always drive it in myself.

Go to EuroSpek @ Evens & Kipling, they deal with exotic cars only and your RS might be the cheapest car there :P I trust them 100% and they are a very reliable bunch, David will take care of you.

Just tell them you want to drive the car in and out yourself. If they want your business, they will allow it. If not, go to the next place that does testing.
