Default Check your CTEK 3300 battery maintainer

I bought two of these CTEK 3300 battery maintainers a few years ago, one for my 996 and one for my elderly father who had a heart surgery and not driving his car for a few months.

His unit was used very rarely after he resumed driving, maybe 4 or 5 times in the last 4+ years.

Went to connected it up again yesterday as he just had another surgery, only to find the Mode switch will not change mode when pressed.

The box states 5 years warranty so there are still 3 months left, going to go through the claim process and see if it works.

Most of us only use this once a year, so might as well do a quick check ever so often to get it covered by warranty if it fails before 5 years after purchase, seems a few people have reported similar failures on line.

No, just the regular version sold in Cdn Tire, $50 on sale back in 2011, the Porsche brand was $150 IIRC, same everything except it had a cigarette lighter adaptor which the Cdn Tire bought ones did not have.

Oh the Porsche logo too. ;-)

I've had a similar issue with my Ctek - I have to press the button a bunch of times and then it will eventually cycle through to right charge mode - once set, it's works without any (apparent) issues. But pretty sure mine is over 5 years old now...

Have two of these.
Used both for 4 years, regularly, without issues.

my car barely goes 12hrs without a drive...
stored for winter, a quick 10+ amp charge every week or two keeps it happy...old battery, no issue. (multiple cars)
In my experience, batteries like short, high amperage charges, not extended low amp..

I have 2 with no issues and they're used all the time. Cigarette lighter adapter available at motor cycle shops for $11. My cars are always plugged in when not in use.

had trouble with mine fall 2015, but left it plugged in, and the next morning it was
working fine !!
got mine in '09 when I had corvettes.

the 996TT started just fine this spring, so charger still seems good.

I have the old orange Canadian Tire one on the car and no issues to date (6 years).

In fact I had the similar ones on my old snowmobiles, 18 years that went with the sleds when I sold them. Still working at the time.
