A company with that warranty knows their products do not break but because that is never 100% true, for the few who do they just replace them.

This seems to be a common problem when doing a search on the internet and Youtube. I have two CTEK 3300 chargers and the Mode switch failed on one of them...so far. I also got them at CTC.

I took the cover off my CTEK and when I by-passed the Mode switch, it would toggle to the next modes. So the switch is faulty.

Anyway, looking at how these chargers are put together (poor solder joints, an additional board attached), these things are junk. After trying to fix it (no luck), it is in the garbage and I am getting a different brand.

Yeah, don't drop these things on the garage floor. Ended up re soldering a circuit. The water proof end plugs come out too easily.

^^^ this.
I bought a Canadian Tire house branded unit. Mine is orange. No issues.
Same thing only different. They're pretty much all made in the same place anyway.

If you have a bad switch, replace the switch. It's a wear part.

Tell that to others that had the same problem I came across on the web. Tactile switches, if you are familiar with electronics, do not fail on a device used as little as these are (they are set a few times a year).

I have 3 CTEK units, don't recall models off the top. Oldest is 6 years, no issues. All CTEK branded direct and from Canadian distributor.

um yeah .. I am a little familiar with electronics, just sounds like you just suck and resoldering SM technology. Besides you are not looking at it analytically , you see something on the internet and they "are junk" you probably have no idea how many million they sold and what the pareto looks like for failure modes, or what % each represents.

That's like saying 993s " are junk" because of SAI issues..

I see it is uninformed internet drivel

I have two of the CTEK and one is fine, the other one is JUNK. Funny how you didn't comment on the others on this post who also had a mode switch issue! By the way, since you are so clued in with electronics, do you have the Newark or Digikey part number for the tactile switch?

This thread (just because you have one and it is fine) reminds me of another thread on Rennlist where a friend of mine had issues with an independent Porsche shop, Everyone **** on him.
Funny how when I posted a thread about that same shop who totally ****ed up a job on his car, everyone's ****-hole was shut and nobody commented.
Remember this one?

Good, so to determine this is a good charger, did you actually run a data logger on it to verify the charge algorithm?
Or did you take the manufacturer's word on it?

This should work but check places like Sayal Electronics for an alternative.
No point doing an order for a 0.12 cent part

CTC is great to deal with. I believe if products are under warranty you simply take it back to the store for resolution. Most other retailers you deal directly with the manufacturer and their representatives. On something this cheap, the cost to transport, asses and repair is not worth it.
