Another child car seat option ~ Safety 1st Guide 65
Just picked up a Safety 1st Guide 65 for my almost 3 yr old in preparation for the upcoming season. Seems like a hard seat to come by but man I'm glad I gave it a try. This thing fits wonderfully and it's actually one of the best fits I've seen out of half dozen car seats I've had installed over the years. Purchased from Canadian Tire on clearance for $90 but appears to be available from Toys R Us and Walmart too.

General tricks to getting a great fit in the 997:
- Remove the back rest (search for a DIY on this) plus the leather seat (velcro).
- Build up the seat bottom about 6" with a large towel and cut up a pool noodle. This gives you some very stiff cushioning to squish the car seat down into while tightening, keeping it from rocking around.
- Use the "rear facing" seat belt path instead forward facing path.
- Once the buckle is latched, pull the strap all the way out to engage the ratchet lock. Then put a LOT of weight into the seat while rocking back and forth & front to back, while simultaneously tightening the belt very tightly.
If you've followed the steps above you'll end up with a solid install with ZERO movement.
Happy motoring with your little one
