Always remember have a PPI done before handing over cash
Had a new client come in today for an oil change on a 996 C2 he bought last week..

There are many many many other things in those engines shed metal.
I would change the oil/filter and tell him to come back in a 1000km for a filter inspection. It's possible internal work was done before he bought it and the engine is naturally sending some metal as a result of new parts (breaking in). It's also possible something is failing. Rechecking after 1000km is one way to find out.

My thoughts exactly.. Car is staying over the holidays for IMS bearing removal.
I got the story, he said the previous owner had the oil changed before posting it for sale. Not much of a service history and that filter was a "No Name" brand..

Don't forget to finger the filter hole. If there is metal in there, the rest of the engine will have it too, especially the oil cooler.

It's not common to do an oil change during a PPI and I would never allow one to be done on my cars at a shop I do not personally deal with, especially the 993.
