No, I didn't but a very trusted friend lives near there (Shaun, Tru-6 on Pelican) and he gave it a thorough going over, took dozens of pics, test drove it, plus I had the usual engine tests done, so I'm quite confident in the purchase. He said it drove like a new car. And he's driven hundreds of 911s, so he's got a good basis for comparison.
The exchange is going to hurt, no doubt, to the tune of $20k, but if I sell the 72 to the US, I'll make the difference back, and then some. The prices of the early cars are just astounding these days.

Maybe for some, I can't stand it. I'm going to replace it with a tan interior. That's my favourite colour combo. Yep. I had a local friend who knows these cars even better than I do check it out and when I told him that he was shocked, as was the seller's mechanic, because the car drives so well and is so low-mileage. The mechanic looked into it with a boroscope and couldn't find anything like a carbon deposit or similar, so he suspects a worn valve guide. He's doing valve guides on all 6 cylinders as part of the deal, and I'm having him replace all the headstuds while he's in there.
Imo I'm sure he means 10 % and valve seat not guide.
When you are doing Compression/leak down there is no combustion sealing provided by the valve guide, just the valve seats and piston rings. You will hear the air leaking out the tail pipe(exhaust valve seat), intake (intake valve seat) or oil fill neck (rings) if you put your ear up to them.

Congrats Chris looks sweet. 38k miles is hard to come by. Does it have service records? A friend of mine just picked up a 73 with full factory service records to its 45k miles

Turn it into a wide body speedster and sell it for $300K while the world is insane.
