do people leave fire insurance on the car and just remove liability so that you can't drive it?

I used to but things have just changed according to my insurance company.
My policy now stays in full, I just can't drive the car. Apparently this is because if the car rolled out the driveway or some kid got his head stuck in the door the liability insurance is still there.

I was told this was government induced.

Interesting. I just called my insurer and just had the liability removed (kept the fire insurance in place). Getting an $1100 refund. No issues with this.
First year with the 991 and don't feel like driving it this winter and having to fork out the cash for snows. The car itself was a big nut to swallow!

I still get my refund and it is the same as it was last year.

Yes I always call the day I take it off the road, cut my premium in half this year given the season was only six months for me!

^ +1 x2, the savings is greater than the urge to drive them once or twice in Winter

If anyone is interested in a very lightly used Porsche Indoor Cover for 997 and also the Porsche trickle charger, please email me. Both were purchased new and only used for 4 months.
