Not sure if it was the case here but ethanol eats through the gas lines from the inside out so you can't see it degrading. Those little fire extinguishers do almost nothing but make a mess. Good luck and glad you weren't hurt.

i carry one, but its sole intention is to put me out in case i catch fire trying to get the f out of the car..

I've had 2 small fires from oil leaks onto hot exhaust. Nothing more than a flame a little bigger than a Bic lighter, but if I didn't have my extinguisher with me, who knows what might have happened.

Sorry to see that pic - that absolutely sucks. I know everyone's right with "at least you weren't hurt", and that's true, but I can still imagine the heartache watching your baby go up in flames.
