Waze - Anyone using it
I heard about Waze on CNN and downloaded it. For those who don't know, it's an App that you run while you're driving. It identifies such things as traffic, hazards, extreme weather, speed traps, red light cameras and so much more. The App is continually updated by users in real time.
CNN reported that the police hate it because it allows people to track there location and could prove dangerous for them. Google owns Waze and they refuse to speak to police about making any changes to this feature.
Curious if anyone else is using it and what they think of it.

I've been using it for about a year..it's AWESOME! Saves me so much time with my commute and I love the police and road hazard warnings. I think it's only a good tool if you can mount your phone to a suction cup or something at eye level. I have a suction iphone holder, but before that it was difficult to use as navi, since my phone sat in my center console or the passenger seat...

I use it. In some US cities it is very helpful for routes. Around here not so much. It has helped save me from some crazy traffic in the past and going west on 401 it takes me near the airport to avoid stopped traffic. Also is helpful for choosing collectors or express.

The wife is always on my iphone flipping between Waze and Google maps for traffic and radar, I have to say it make for a more efficient and cost effective drive. We have bailed off the 400 on to side roads a few times to look over and see the 400 at a stand still.

Used to have it on my old phone but since Google maps show the traffic conditions, I didn't bother installing it again. The police and other warnings are many times outdated and it keeps asking you to input info when the traffic slows down to meep the system updated so it's just one more thing to fiddle with while driving. I like the Google maps better, no input requested.

The beauty of this app is that it's crowd sourced as far as realtime traffic. Google bases it's traffic reports off Waze...But on Waze you get it live instead of waiting for Google to catch up.
The Police traps may be outdated by a few minutes here and there, but if you see that the OPP had a trap set up, you know to be careful for a stretch of highway...
The app is integral with a phone mount though, I found I used it less before I got my suction cup cradle

I saw one deer at the side of the road on my commute this morning and one motorcycle going the other way -- Waze didn't notice either of the these things -- good App though!!
