Default 2001 996 on the auction block

Good day all.

Principal Liquidators in Mississauga has just opened a large auction of film props from a television show and this includes vehicles used. One of them is a 2001 996. I put this out there for anyone who is interested in taking a look. You might score a decent car at a decent price...you never know.

I've purchased stuff from here for great prices before. Enjoy!

I love the idea of buying a car cheap at an auction... but a 996 is probably the last car I would by at an auction. I want to buy a 996 soon... but you are taking a big lead of faith by not having a PPI done on the car... I believe a 996 at auction is worth $12,000 max because of the risk. Just an opinion. Other cars/brands would fair better at an auction.

Regardless, thank you for sharing.

I agree with you. This purchase does pose a lot of risk for sure. So far it's only at 11,300 which isn't terrible. Like you said, I'm just sharing for anyone who might be able to score a 996 fairly cheap but taking a chance in the process.

They are near my office, going for the preview on Friday. But looking at some audio stuff, not the 996. But if anyone wants eyes on it let me know.

Airbag light is on (was probably disabled by production in case they got into an accident during filming)

Sounds fishy to me. Why would you not want active airbags, just because someone is filming you? If you get into an unplanned accident, then the shot is ruined anyway.

If the filming guys can disable it, can they also enable it?

Where I would be suspicious, is that the airbag may be expensive to replace, and after they "fixed" the car, they where not willing to go the distance and finish the job...

It's a $10K car... Maybe $12K if the sun is shining..

Probably just a faulty seatbelt buckle on the driver side. Very common.

airbag light probably on because they removed a seat to fit a camera. that triggers the light and they don't have the pst2/durametric/piwis to turn it back off.
