Default Insurance for classic cars

Hi guys, what are the options in terms of insurance for older cars? I had the Silver Wheel plan with Lant Insurance Brokers for may years. Couple of years ago Lant was acquired by Hagerty. I had a feeling things will get expensive. I got my renewal notice for 2014, the cost increased by 25% compared to 2013. No explanation, no nothing. Just like that. Disclosure, no demerit points and no accidents, as clean of a record as it can be.

Did you happen to move? my rate has not changed at all since I signed up with them in 2012 and I have the exact same driving record as you. The only very slight change increase wise was triggered by me as I increased the agreed value amount for 2014.

Give these guys a call, Canadian company. I had to go with hagerty due to two tickets. But the folks at vintage were nice and it was cheaper. And the profits don't flow to the south.

I just ran the numbers on both websites for my 95 and bingo Lant hit me with a 22% increase if I were to sign up today. I locked in full year back in December for 2014 at the same rate at 2013 but next year I will move to Vintage Auto Ins for sure. Stupid games these companies play as if no one will notice and just sign on the dotted line.

Turbodan predicted this would happen with Lant a while ago!

Same thing happen to me. I got my renewal from Lant/hagerty last month and it went up 40% for no reason. I didn't think twice or bother calling Lant and switched to vintage.

yes and expect it to go up again next year with Haggerty and perhaps even more. Jason is the manager over at vintage his phone is 800-307-7066...great Canadian company now owned by Brian Reed, a really nice down to earth guy. These guys are real enthusiasts, Brian owns an 87 911 Cab, and they are out of Lindsay.
I do a lot of appraisals for their program, and as many of you know, I offer a Rennlist discount.
Enjoy the +4 weather today.

my car just qualified ('99 996 with 190km) with Vintage. First year of accepting '99s under classic insurance. Very easy to deal with and quite straight forward. I'm going to give them a go.

Danny - expect a PM soon about getting an appraisal done.

I'll be insuring the 928 and the 996 as a classic this year. Does this Canadian company requires a squeeky clean record?

I have a 19A Policy with State Farm. Less than 5k kms per year with an agreed upon appraised value. I pay less than $30/month.

Dan, we'll need to get together in May for an appraisal. I am just locking down a daily driver; once that's done, the 993 is getting yanked from BelAir and onto a classic/vintage/collector policy!

Yup. I've had the 19A policy since 2010.
