Not secret - just not publicized - sort of like the backroom storage area of the ROM so to speak. It's the overflow storage for both the museum and the restoration center and it's surrounded by workshops - it's an old Reutter assembly hall. Porsche would need a museum 4x the size of the current one in order to display the vehicles they have or could have in display condition. Many of the vehicles have never been displayed as they are one offs or prototypes and some are in rough shape needing restoration. The great thing about Porsche is that there seems to be a 'never get rid of anything' mentality which is not the norm for most car companies. The up side is that there are some fascinating cars sitting in there waiting for their time in the sun across the street. Some day Porsche will restore some of these prototypes and perhaps do a display of the more significant ones in a large group display. You get the odd prototype on display but there are so many parked and covered that would be cool to see.

Great pics of some very interesting prototypes. How about that 993 with watercooled 996 engine for testing!

Thank you Ferry Porsche for being a meddler which resulted in the 911 design that we love today, it could have been quite bad.

Several of those were in the R&T 50 years of 911 issue. Good find
