Default Lift Installation underway

Took too long to get going, but my lift installation is finally underway.. basic structure is up. Now I need to run the cables, Hang the power unit, and have a buddy pull a 220V line to it. All to make my wife happy so she can put her truck inside for the winter.. it had nothing to do with me working on my car

Hey Jeff,

We're looking at building a new house next summer and I'll install a lift if we do. Can you tell me the height of your ceiling and the floor dimensions? What BendPak model is that?

Terry, I also put in a lift recently. Drop by for a coffee some day. 10' ceiling, 12' lift, yeah, had to do some modding.

No reason to be envious, they are relatively cheap.

Awesome Francois. It looks like I need to do a couple of road trips, one to Limehouse and one to London to see Sharker's set-up. Did you buy a BendPak as well?

We're such enablers!

Bought a used 2-post Direct Lift from a guy in Quebec (Barsalou) who was getting out of all the car stuff due to back problems. I had to go there, dismantle it, take it home, and install. Also got some scales, strings, and camber guages at the same time. So now I can do alignments and corner balances... well that's the idea anyway.

Lifts are relatively cheap now. The Direct Lift is the made-in-China version of the Rotary Lift (same company). Directlift.ca is in Vaughan btw.

Nice space Charlie!

I bought the lift, and then won the floor covering at the UCR social, so my simple lift installation turned into "project man-cave". I insulated, dry-walled, and am painting now. I think lighting will be 6 x double 4' T8 fluorescent fixtures, and I will probably install some kind of natural gas-powered radiant heat. The challenge is storage and shelving; space is 20' x 20', so efficiency is paramount.

In the mean time, car is in the driveway, waiting for the first major snow fall.

I thought you liked doing engine drops using floor stands

Here you go. The ceiling, the floor once done, and before it started. All that stuff is in "storage" in the trailer. I need to figure out what to do with it all.

The other thing is that I got a new garage door when we moved in last year. I needed everything (the motor couldn't even lift the door without me helping by lifting the door), so I got the high tracks and side-mount door opener while I was at it.

So now, even with a 10.5' ceiling and the garage door open, I can walk under the car, standing straight, when it's all the way up.
