I know what you mean - but everyone's 'hand tight' means something different. By the book it is 19 foot pounds or 25Nm.

It may seem like a silly little job and simple technology (screw the damn plastic thing on right?) but it can have big consequences if this simple little service job goes wrong. Hands up if you've ever seen a trail of oil on the ground leading OUT of one of these rapid lube places? <hand in the air>

I use a Quaker State strap wrench from Partsource in conjunction with a 1/2" drive breaker bar, very easy, quick, and cheap.
