omg if it's this car, i take my thoughts back 100%. don't drill the plates (for now).

i would look into the retractable plate idea where they mount under neath the upper grill of the bumper (not the lower grill so the plate never can touch the ground) and then have a set of bumper plugs to fill in the holes if the plate bracket is removed (if needed).
this way you will be safe with the police and at car meets, photo opportunities the plate is 100% hidden underneath the upper grill area of the bumper.
something like this (i would recommend non motorized)
imho.

You've got to be able to use the front bumper tow hook?
There was a guy at the fall run this weekend with a 997.2 that had a nifty tow hook plate holder. Superb actually.

Yes it's the 50 year anniversary edition. I can't use the toe hook because it blocks the parking sensors. Also, I didn't get the houndstooth because Pfaff had one for a day and I thought it was very ugly---full black leather in mine. I put on low mileage because I live close to work and don't drive it in the winter. Since I ordered vanity plates I guess I'll just put them on the front. If you see a graphite grey one with the plates"50th 911" honk and wave! Tends to be in the Avenue Road/Yorkville corridor. Anyone else here go to Cato's for detailing?

My tow hook plate, has various adjustment points, so you can really offset it if you want, it may clear the parking sensor.
But in the end it comes down to what you want. I personally looked for my car for over 6 months (since I was picky about the options, not the colour), but likely wouldn't of bought it if had holes in the front bumper... but that's me.

Two hook option looks really terrible in my opinion. Either take your chances without the plate or drill and mount it...really shouldn't be a debate since all Porsches in Germany have plates mounted on the front bumper so it's not as if you're causing Ferry Porsche to turn over in his grave by drilling the bumper.
