Scooter/Motorcycle Insurance?
Im close to losing my free parking spot at work and because I refuse to pay the crazy downtown Toronto parking rates, my Pcar is going to be spending a whole lot more time in the garage Monday through Friday.
Im seriously considering a speed limited scooter (Honda Ruckus) to get me to and from.
Co-Ops gave me a quote - it was more than I expected - and because they "dont do many motorcycles" they require me to take a motorcycle safety course as well.
Its a silly 50cc scooter and Ill be driving it 4 miles to work and back. $420/yr pre tax.
Anyone have a better insurance place for me to call? My quote for a Suzuki DR-Z400SM was 2/3rds of what my Turbo costs to insure!
Looking for an insurance call that may be more receptive to "motorcycles"

If you are over 30 years old and have no at-fault on your record, PM me and I can put you in touch with a friend who will beat most insurance rates you'll get from the market.

Have you thought about an e-bike. If your commute is 4 miles this should cover it. Plus an e-bike doesn't require a plate, or m1 license. Insurance is not required also.

Thats right, I dont have my M1 yet.
I have been wrestling over gas or ebike for a long time. Ebikes make a lot of sense for me but the batteries are not reliable and I plan on using it in the colder weather too, absent snow of course.
Its a tough call. I wouldnt have a place to charge during the day so I would need probably a 20ah battery to get me both ways.....

Step 1: Get your motorcycle license. Even if you don't need it now, might later.
If an E bike can't go far enough for you on a single charge, look into those 3/4 wheel electric scooters. Or public tramsit.

Definitely get your M1 now. You can't get your M2 for 60 days and the full M is 22months after that. It might be worth it to take the course if a few hundred dollars makes that much of a difference to you.
Insurance in Ontario SUCKS. I was back in BC and my dad had his Kawi 750 fixed and running so I decided to use it for a few days. I was able to insure the bike for three days. Cost 68$. There you can insure the bike just for as long as you want. I think that it was $700.00 for the year, but if you're not riding it for 6 months why do you HAVE to have insurance on it?

i'm just over 40, riding for 13+ yrs. I have a 2000 Honda VFR800, and my insurance has never been below $900..... Just liability is almost $800

I think the reason is so people can easier afford to pay for it. Otherwise ot wpuld cost twice as much for 6months. Snowmobile imsurance is the same way.

Do you have to wear a suit to work? If not, best of both worlds?
