Default Headlights

Hi everybody, I just purchased a 2001 Porsche Boxster S and looking to change the headlights, this one are old and kind of yellow. Any idea??? I know the best would be to buy new ones. But what kind, where and which is the best? The dealership told me I can't find after market one what fits LED or clear one. The only choise I have is to buy from the dealer for 2600$. Is that right?
I need you guys's help.

Is the yellowing on the exterior lens, or on the inside reflector? if on the lens, just go pick up the 'headlight restoration' kit and follow the instructions....if you have the internal yellowing common to those cars/headlights, then you are SOL...
BTW, congrats on the purchase and put up some pics!
Cheers,

Partsheaven.com. I've replaced boxster and 996 lights (same part) with used units from them. Generally $3-400 each, plus $50-100 shipping. Call them and ask - they're super friendly and helpful.

You have a few options: (all links from ebay)

Non projector orange bottom (what do you have now?) - Should be able to get a set for $500
Non projector clear bottom - likely 800-1000 for a set
LED Projectors - didn't these used to be $800?
Litronic (OEM) replacments - Generally expensive $2000-2500

Sometimes you can find one L and one R here and there in Litronic that are not too bad. - $550 here

Why did they have to ruin those projectors with the ghay orange LED's. They look good otherwise...

Any used headlight assemblies with halogen lights will be burnt to a certain degree, the headlight has the halogen bulb too close to the plastic lens and it overheats. I have a Canadian car with full low beam DRL's and only has 80,000 kms, headlight lenses are burned a bit.

Imre I have spent a lot of time in the US and tonnes are burnt like this . i do not atribute this to DRL as you found also , moreso a design flaw ..

Anyway Mike just did this and put Xenon or seomthing in , they look great and transform a car ,

What colour is your car ? Xenon looks great on a black or dark coloured car ..

Any 996 or boxster headlight from 99-01 will fit. You can upgrade to xenon and they are plug and play. I don't think the boxster had self leveling lights (might be wrong) but in a 996 you would not have this feature unless you add the necessary hardware. A used set usually pop up in the for sale section on the forum and will run you anywhere from $1000-$1400 for a set. I found mine on Kijiji.

You could just learn to live with them but the xenon lights are a nice upgrade.
