As the saying goes: You get what you pay for! All in all, I'm happy with my gun
metal hollow spoke twists! But the following has to be said:

It took them 2 months to refinish my wheels ~ I know they're busy around a
group-buy, but really??! I'm pretty laid back, but after a while, I had to
hound them for a completion date. They also "forgot" to take the old sticky
wheel weights off the inside barrel of one of my wheels before powder
coating... Yes, I have 2, light OEM silver squares on the inside of the
gunmetal barrel. Luckily they're not visible when walking around the car; but
still ; that's pretty "bush-league" if you ask me.

All in all the wheels look great and I came to terms with the minor
detail..But I'm pretty sure, I will be looking at different options when
shopping for powder coating in the future.

I don't want to take away from this group buy but I found a place in Waterloo called Westex coatings. I popped into to the shop last summer and they charge $350 - $400 for a set of wheels depending on what your color choice is. They have done many car and bikes parts. At the time it would take 3-5 days to re-finish them. I don't know anyone who has had work done from them but the were friendly and there samples products looked great. Just FYI

Any one had any work done by Tire Butler in Etobicoke ? They have been there for about 5 years and claim to do a lot of work for PCA'ers

StanThePorscheFan 01-17-2013 02:06 AM

I sent Mike an email. Two days no response.

There is a group buy from one of the guys that worked at Brightside. New location is in Durham/Whitby.

Go on VWVortex.com and located on the Canadian section you will find the group buy....now at 30% off!!!

I think i may check out Westex coatings in Waterloo....need to get my wheels powder coated before spring.... Anyone try them yet? How's there work?

Adamant1971 02-03-2015 11:34 PM

I need to get my Carrera III's done as well, and my buddy needs his 944 wheels done too.

I had my speedlines from the 85 done at carcones. Painted, not powered coat. Absolutely beautiful work they did on them.

Perhaps they would be interested in a group buy?

They charged $550 to paint, Polish lip and clear coat.
