Thanks, Imre; that's incredible.

Do you think your car will be ready before winter?

Depending the route I take with the IMS, it could be running in a month.

The passanger side head is complete. Only the valve cover needs to go on, for that, still need to fabricate something to lock the cam timing and the cam down.

Made a cam hold down "tool" from a piece of hardwood. Also, used a long deck screw to keep the tensiomer compresed for instal. Porsche special tools my $$. The new tensioner pad is in the second picture.

Picked up an excellent condition, used, clutch set from Rady at Whale Tail today. They are only about 25 min from my house, been dealing with him for 15 years and always a good experience.

Clive and Mike dropped by this evening. It was nice to talk cars for a change. I need to get out of the garage more often. Mike's 996 is really sweet looking. The sideskirst and the GT3 engine lid are tasteful additions.

Before they showed, was able to almost finish up the driver side head too. The double row cam sprocket is giving me a hard time. I'll give it another try tomorrow again.

So that must have saved you about $1,500?

Thanks for the comments Imre. I didn't even offer to take you out for a ride I'm near by so we can go out for a spin anytime. Seeing what you have done so far inspires me to get into more DIY projects

Yes, somewhere around there. This set was $300.

300 sounds steep. I paid 580 for all new oem pressure plates, discs, and release bearings

That's nice but I got the dual mass flywheel too. The flywheel alone is more than the rest of the clutch kit. However, when this set wears out and if the flywheel is still good, I'll go with your route. Did it include shipping?

It was 2 or 3 years ago. I think that was with shipping but not duty. Looks like price has went up some.

No worries! Next time you and Clive come by, we'll go for a spin. If I have the 928 out of the garage by then, I'll fire that sucker up and clear out the cow webs. I miss driving it.

Today, decided to take a vacation day from work to fabricate a cam locking/hold down "tool". Despite how ugly it looks, it works well. Besides the IMS bearing puller, this should be the last "special tool" I have to make.

Yes, I will. First I want to rotate the engine over by hand to inpsect the chains. Just to make sure all is well. I've looked at them in detail before but never with the cams in place.
Also, came up with an idea to prime the oil system with a graden sprayer, through the oil filter port. Still just an idea.
