Double DIN installation shop in GTA?
Hi everyone!
I have a 2006 Cayman S with base sound system, not bose. I'm looking for a good audio shop (had experience with Porsche cars) to replace my CDR24 with a aftermarket double DIN navigation unit.
Any recommendations around GTA?
Thanks in advance!

Kromer is good but expensive and overcharged me when I got a quote. I have worked with Marcus there in the past and he's great but for my P-Car it didn't make sense.
I got mine installed (rear camera included) at Exoticare.ca . They are located in Downsview Park Area and to be honest I though the shop looked a little suspect when I first arrived and nobody was there yet but the service has been incredible and the install was super clean.
I bought my parts before hand (Kenwood DNX7160, Kenwood Backup Camera, Sirius Receiver, amp) at Best buy and I bought the installation kit on ebay. There's a double din install kit that matches the factory trim and even has "PORSCHE" on it.
I would highly recommend going the Exotic auto care route.

Hi Frontside,
I am also looking to install a double din in my car.
If you don't mind me asking, what kind of Porsche do you have? How much did Exotic Auto Care charge for labour and how long did it take?
Which backup camera did you get and amp? Where did you get them? How about the double din install kit?
Thanks

Don't have model or the link but I can get it. It was $449 and they supplied it.
Total install cost was $575 and it took them the entire day.
Here's my thoughts on everything I had done...
The install is extremely clean!!! They buried the Sat antenna under the front of the dash (signal still good) they also set up an iphone connection in the console and you can't see any of the wires except for the plug in when I open the console.
I was concerned the back-up camera would be big and ugly but it's barely noticable and the install again was perfect. I think it's a great addition to the car.
The mic for the bluetooth again is extremely clean and works fairly well. I have a cab and the gundo hack so I notice I have to speak up a little bit for some of my calls but I think all P-cars would be the same.
The only issue I have is from the head unit istelf. I need to download the new software because my settings are sometimes reset. (just equalizer, and colour/layout settings) no issues with nav. So... to fix this, you can have a usb plug instead of the iphone plug and do any firmware upgrades you want. I'm planning on bringing the car back to change the plug. He said it would only take a few minutes. Once this is done you can still plug your iphone in you just need to use the iphone/ipod charging plug and connect the usb.
I went with the kenwood because of the camera and the garmin nav but Pioneer makes a great one too.
The garmin is perfect and even has traffic updates. Not sure how it was ever set up because I don't subscribe to anything.
The DVD player is something I thought I would never use but I take my kids to school an I watch movies all the time. Yes it's set to play while I'm driving and all the nav funtions were flawlessly as well.
I will post up some pictures this weekend if everyone wants to see some installed photo's.

One last thing:
In regards to the sound of the overall system... it still sound like **** and from what I read everywhere, upgrading the speakers doesn't help much.
I listen to Howard all day or my exhaust so I'm not to concerned about it.

Fantastic pictures Frontside! Thanks for posting them. Very clean professional install. Does the head unit have the Porsche logo when you turn it on? Which back up camera did you get? The Kenwood CMOS-200 or CMOS-300? Did you find out the name and model # of the JBL amp? For this unit, where do you insert the DVD? Btw, are your speakers Bose?

Ok lots to remember here...
Dectane rears - installed myself 10 min max.
Amp is mounted in the trunk I will get the model info and pics tomorrow.
DVD insert- the screen slides down and opens up (like a table) for the insert and ad card
Porsche crest - not yet but I plan on doing it this week. I need to update firmware and will do them both at the same time.
Camera-I don't remember of it was the 200 or the 300. I'll try and find and old emailed receipt. I'm sure both are fine.
Bose- yes I have the Bose system.

If in the Oakville area check out the audio place in the same plaza as Mantis. They put the audio in the Jeep and a Merc for me and did outstanding work.
