Default What Gasoline in BC? Shell vs. chevron?

Just looking through some threads I noticed there is quite the discussion on which gasoline to use. Now I haven't found anything for BC specific.

I drive a 09 carrera S (dfi engine), what should be my gas of choice?
shell 91 (was reading they have 0% ethanol) or chevron 94 (claims to be 0% Ethanol when I go there)
or something complete else?

Your input is appreciated

i always used chevron 94 in last 2 cdn cars (964 wtl cab, & supercharged cobra-575 rwHP)....cause of 1-octane rating, 2- no eth, & 3- as far as i could determine the chev 94 octane is separate pump/tank from the rest of lower octane weevils.
for the p-car likely was not an issue....for the cobra was pro tuned to run on high octane for heat mgt.

Over the Past 5+ years with my Car i have gone from Sunoco 94 to Esso 91 to Shell 91

With Sunoco 94 i noticed Performance to be a bit Laggy, Black Tips anfd Sut on the Back Bumper

With Esso 91 i noticed Linear Performance and much better Milage compare to Sunoco 94

With Shell 91 No Ethanol i noticed even better Milage

all in all, High Performance N/A Cars dont need 94 and do better with 91.

One of the Listers wrote to Shell to get written proof of 0% ethanol content in Shell 91. You or someone should obtain same for the Chevron 94.

It's only a matter of time before they ALL contain ethanol.

Excellent comment Zook. All modern cars have antiknock sensors that can adjust to lower octane gasoline. I think Shell should be fine.

I'm in BC and have a 996 TT. I started out with Shell but got "codes" thrown. While the salesman (at the P Dealer) said Shell 91 was ok the service department strongly advised the Chevron 94 and it did make a difference. No codes thrown after the switch. I'm told that my car actually needs 93 to perform properly. Not sure about the requirements of non TT 997's though. What octane is recommended in the manual?

In BC if they advertise no ethanol then it cannot contain ethanol. Consumer protection laws are very strict about "truth in advertising". I do agree it's coming though.

+1. Turbos don't need it either. Think BC Chevron has Techron in it. Techron be good....

I wonder why Chevron doesn't venture into Ontario.

re forced induction: depends on level of pro tune - boost....most areas of n.amer outside of b.c. 94 octane not available (i used to carry/use octane enhancer-boost juice when i traveled with the cobra in event went WOT)....in any event best gas is chevron 94...& i like i said its delivered via stand alone pump arrangement.

for n.a. cars likely not an issue.....unless knock develops.
