OT Which Tablet do you have?
With all the new Tablets launched this year, 2011 looks to be the year of the Tablet.
Just wondering which tablets Rennlisters have a pention for, select the ones on the list that you own or would consider purchasing. You can comment on your likes and dislikes as well.
To start things off,... IPod Touches rule in my family but the eyes aren't getting any younger so were looking at getting Tablets for christmas. The IPOD 2 is a sure bet but what about the others. While online on Amazon my impulsiveness got the better of me and I couldn't pass up the $200 price tag so I pre-bought an Amozon Kindle Fire without even seeing one, the following day I read that some of the Amazon services weren't available for the Kindle Fire in Canada.... shizz. Well if it doesn't pan out I'll sell it on eBay... but then again at that low a price point it could be a winner for Christmas.

i dont have one but I am leaning towards the 10 inch Samsung . i have used the 7 inch one and its great value for the money . i am wavering coz it has no 3G option though . I am sad to say being from K/W area the playbook is a total non starter .. That company may be doomed.

There really is only one answer. iPad. The Samsung would be second, but you can't beat apples software/support/customer service/upgrades.
The iPad is the only tablet that will have a 100% guarantee on future OS support from its manufacturer.
And you simply can't beat the iTunes/app store set up.
Anything else will be a paperweight once the software and apps stop rolling in, especially the play book.

I have an IPad 1 and Playbook.
I have given them both a "fair chance" and used them extensively with both wifi and 3G (bridging). Not even close! The "old" iPad is by far superior to the Playbook.
I have played with some of the others but the IPad feels much better in terms of keypad feel, stable operating system, speed. Im not even going to go into apps!
However, where really like the Playbook is the ease of file transfer- I can hook the USB to my computer and viola! Its my Z drive and it's so easy to transfer photos, movies, files etc. Flash is also nice but it does slow down the Playbook a bit.
Go for the iPad!

I'll be getting an iPad 2. Apple rules my house. Ever since switching from PC components, I've never looked back.
Just think, all the apps for the iPod Touch will transfer over nicely.

iPad for now as I got it free. I think I'll wait a while to see what happens with new stuff. However, I'm pretty happy with the ease of use of the iPad and the support is great.

I had 3 iPads at my restaurant for a while, i returned them cause I got the last minute approval to build a patio so the cash was diverted. But for the short time I had them they were great. I'm panning on getting an iPad3 when they come out, likely in the fall.
But do I really need one? no, but I want one. Even though I have an iMac at work, 2 iPhones, a Mac Pro in my basement, an unused Mac Mini, my daughters iMac and my wife's a Mac Book Pro. But I still want one regardless of how little we need it.

Oh and don't forget about airplay, it's great. I stream audio from my Mac's or iPhone to my Dennon HTR.
There are more Airplay devices coming, they work great from the iPad as well.

I won an iPad 2 / 64G at a conference in Europe and use it 10x more than I thought I would. Beware the iOS5 upgrade though, I lost a lot of apps and garage band songs and game high scores despite it claiming to have backed it all up. : (
