When I was at the autoshow last month in Toronto, Graphiti.ca was there. The had a Macleran, a mini, a ford mustang, Porsche 996 turbo. There wraps were top notch. I am a huge stickler and was extremely impressed with the workmanship. $3.5-4k

They had carbon fibre wrap. They also had a brushed steel look in bronze and silver. The Macleran had the bronze brushed and the mustang was carbon fibre with a stunning charcoal brushed finish.

This is the satin guard and it's a lot better then a vinyl wrap.

Did you ever find someone in Toronto that does this? I have been looking but still can't find anything. A lot of the vinyl guys us an air process as opposed to the soapy water process in the thread above. The look is killer!!

There's a great little independent shop in Mississauga, guy's name is Mark - 416.822.9147 - great work, meticulous, honest, and fair pricing. Sometimes he comes out to the Saturday morning meets for a cup of coffee with me. He wrapped my previous car (M3) matte black, and he did the hood and side stone guards of my current 911, as well as done the tint on about 10 of my cars. He has done quite a few wraps of high end cars over the past couple of years. Great guy.

Truth is, there is not perfect solution to nicks and dents... I doubt the vinyl will have the same shine as paint after polish and waxing.

Perhaps if there's a way to plastidip the whole car...

There are few products out there for wrapping. The main brands used for full car wraps are Oracal and 3M. There are a number of other brands such as Avery and Arlon. And recently lots of fanfare from Premier because of their Premier Satin Guard. This is a clear film with a matte satin finish. I personally do not have exposureto this product. It can cover your original paint and make it make it matte or satin looking.
http://www.premiermobilegroup.com/pf1_products.shtml

I don't believe this is any different that the 3M satin clear finish which is available locally.

The main ones used at least in toronto is 3M 1080 and Oracal 970 for full car wraps.
I personally believe the 3M products is a little more resiliant to scratches and elements.

I personally went with a Oracal Satin Black at the time due to the Satin Black look and their product is cheaper than 3M. Their product is ok but I do not believe as good as 3M. Oracal is also harder to work with than 3M. When the film is removed for repositioning sometimes the adhesive bunches up and creates mini bunches of adhesive which need to be heated up and played with more to flatten out. 3M does not have this issue.

Matte anything or at least black too me needs a little more attention. It does scratch a little easier. When you wipe down your car if any miniture debris or sand is cought in the microfiber clother you matte finish surface can easily turn into scoured surface. I learned the hard way and wipe my hood like I did the very first time and I ended up havign to replace the whole wrap on the hood.
Its is best just to use power wash and litterally dab the water off the surface.

If you do bump into me I can go further into detail on this.

I have emailed a couple local wrappers to see if they can get the premier stuff and so far no luck.

I will keep everyone posted.

Give Alan Barnes at clockwork productions a call. They do that, and have done many vehicle and fleet wraps for me in the past. He is a great guy as well.

I heard back from Premier and they said, there are many companies that make a matte clear but it's just your standard vinyl wrap. If i want more protection, I need to get the premier because it 2x's as thick and lasts twice as long.

Unfortunately there are no dealers in Canada but there are a two shops I spoke to who are in contact with them directly and trying to place an order.

I'll keep you posted on the pricing. I'm guessing $3,500
