Porsche Canada Pricing 2011
I don't know if anyone has spotted the following press release for 2011 models
http://www.newswire.ca/en/releases/a.../31/c6988.html
I was in the market for an all cash purchase of either a Cayenne Turbo or a C4S.
Given the strength of the C$ vis a vis the US$ it is unbelievable that Porsche Canada maintains a 15% to 20% surcharge on Canadian vehicles vs their US counterparts.
How much are dealers willing to negotiate on MSRP or should I head to Boston where my sister lives to make a purchase and import into Canada.

They say "Canadian's are willing to pay more" hence why everything is so expensive here. Until there is a mass flood of Canadian consumers buying stateside, I don't think anything will change.

What really gets me is that it's as expensive to buy a Porsche in Canada as it is to buy it in the UK! I know of no other manufacturer that has this much price differentiation with the US.

Don't forget the 6.2 percent duty into Canada and the optional equipment which is standard in Canada and not in the USA. After certification costs, brokerage etc. the difference is not that great which is why the prices are as they are.
Smaller market in Canada means slightly higher pricing, probably about ten percent.

Here we go again. As long as Canadians continue to believe that 2 cars, built on the same line, with the same bolts, by the same Hans and Fritz, have different values based on where they were first sold, the dealers in Canada will charge more. Like any other aspect of capitalism, the market rules. Until more people vote with their wallets, the price differential will remain.

I agree, I think Porsche lost my $100+ k. Sorry, I appreciate your engineering and I might be able to afford your cars but I am a rational consumer and your prices do not make sense vis-a-vis our southern neighbours.

for the 2008 model year porsche used a "market rate adjustment" that lowered the price of new cars. it went into effect late 2007 and was repealed spring 2008 by the time the dollar started diving again. it remains to be seen what they plan on doing now that the dollar is at par again.

Thanks Dan. By the way, the currency adjustment is in place again, my RS was reduced $6K from the original prie set back in September 2009.

Hi Bob, I called a dealership today and there was no indication on Currency adjustment for 2011 models. Everyone was speaking from an MSRP perspective despite my pointing out the massive price differences.

Maybe they are the same? I had a contract price, MSRP back last fall. On delivery the price was reduced $6K. I was told it was currency adjustment.
