Looking for a mechanic in the GTA east
Let me start off here by saying I am new here. Just purchased my new project P-car. I have a brilliant BMW mechanic who is willing to do the work to my vehicle however I would prefer the first glance to be taken by a expert with porsche. I have purchased a 986 boxster 2.5 tiptronic for very little and expect to put alot into it.
If anyone can recomment someone I would appreciate it. I have searched and found someone mentioning "response engineering" in whitby but could find nothing about a contact number or address. any help is appreciated
thanks in advance

Raymond at Bestline (although Jane and hwy 7) is good.
so is Jack at gtek (dvp and eglinton)
or Courtney at Autowerks (400 and 7)
what type of work is needed?
if you plan to do a lot location shouldn't be main concern, quality of work should.
btw these guys aren't cheap but you get what you pay for and they are all very professional.
I recommend you discuss price estimate before going ahead with any work to avoid any suprises.
tell us more about your car...Arnaud on here just picked up a boxter as well.

its a 97, owner noticed oil and coolant mixing. Told the mechanic he could keep it as he washed his hands with it. Mechanic was going to part it out as he doesnt have the time nor resources to fix it.
car does run and drive but I'd rather not drive it too far if at all until engine is addressed. Long shot hoping its a freeze/cold plug issue or something other that total engine failure. If it is an engine failure I would just take it home and over the winter locate a 996 motor and have that installed over the end of winter before spring.

I think that the G-tek website is down, but you can speak to Uwe or Jack at 416.755.7884. They are located on Cranfield Road in East York, 2 minutes from DVP + Eglinton. I have used them for all 3 of my 911s over the last 13 years and have always found them competent, professional & honest.

Oil in the coolant or coolant in the oil? (or both?)
The shop in whitby is listed as one of our UCR tech shops but other than that i've never heard of them.

not to familiar with boxsters/996's but isn't there some limitation with with the mechanical gas on the boxster and the e gas on the 996 ? not sure of the details.

Just another option for your list... I've been working with Engineered Automotive in Concord for many years. Their place is very easily accessible off the autobahn... er, I mean, the 407. Great, very experienced Porsche guys, with integrity. (905) 660-1884, Billy Smilovsky is the boss. www.engineeredautomotive.com

thanks guys I appreciate teh fast replies, I'll go to each place and get a feel for each person. Whichever makes me feel most comfortable is definately the one who will get my business. At the end of the day I wont know until its on a hoist but until then I guess Im remaining patient.
Coolant is in the oil but no oil in the coolant if that makes any sense. Car currently has 133,000 miles which is well over 200k. Its going to need full suspension and drivetrain overhaul. Just wanting to get it inspected so I can pick a starting point. I got the car for next to nothing but everyone knows the cheapest car to buy is the most expensive one to drive. I bought this realzing I would need to dump alot of coin into it. I figure buy used for $20k or buy a builder that I can customize to my preference and know everything has been done.
'99 996 is non egas. If I were to buy a Box S 3.2 or 00+ 996 3.4 engine which is e gas, I can swap a '99 cable throttle body onto car and program my boxster 2.5 DME to a 3.4 program.
I've been waiting to find the right car to do this to for over a year and have been reading and waiting in the wings for over 2years.
I hope I'm ready...

Response Engineering works on my car. If you leave a message he won't get back to you right away. He's away until the middle of next week.
