Default P-car is finally muscling out the RX-7

I made a deal with my wife last October that I would sell my RX-7 if I bought my 911. As many of you know, I bought the 911 last October and managed to keep the car until now, but regretfully, the time has come to let her go. I have owned this car for the last 10 years and bought it with 29,000 km's on it from the original owner. Here are the details:

Mechanically it's 120%. I just spent $6k on an engine rebuild to replace my apex seal at which time the radiator and cat were replaced. The new cat is a high flow version. The car is more responsive and powerful than it has ever been. The car has a custom stainless steel 2.5” pipe with a 4" tip. Other recent replacements include clutch, brakes, and tires. The paint is great for a 15 year old car which has always been garaged. For those of you in the Toronto area, I have had my car serviced exclusively by Dave Diedrick at Mazdees. The car is red on black leather.

The car has 98,900 original km's, and aside from the stuff listed above is stock. It has the Bose sound system, and all amps have been rebuilt in the last 2 years and are guaranteed for life from www.carstereohelp.com/mazda.htm.

I am asking $21,900 Canadian dollars. If you know anyone that is interested in one hell of a car, please let them know.

lovely car...always liked Rx7's. The first gen was a childhood fantasy of mine...uh, well maybe it was the hot stewardess that owned it across the street.

Nice car. Too bad they all have to have the apex seals replaced at only 100K. Do you know if Mazda resolve this with the RX-8?

I bought my wife a '98 Mystique while she is on matternity leave. Hey at least the V6 was designed by Porsche.

If you have any questions regarding these cars, feel free to PM me. I know the ins and out of these cars. Also had a Contour for a year when our first one was born. My bother bought it as a back up car after it and still has it. The Mystique had a fried auto trans that I had to replace a year ago and for that the engine had to come out. Thye are OK cars but there are a few things tha you should be looking at before buying one.

I have known this car for years and it's in great shape. It also pulls like a TRAIN! It's a pure, unadulterated rocketship - highly recommended!

Well, I don't think anything is going to happen before the spring as people don't want to buy a sports car and put it away for the winter. Having said that though, what are my options? Sell the P-car instead?

I don't think there could be a worse time for selling a sports car - worst time of year, plus you've got the added impact of massive market turmoil, where a lot of people are nervous about pulling the trigger. The RX7 market isn't quite the Carrera GT market, so potential buyers will be in that segment of population who are concerned about the economy (as opposed to the uber-wealthy who aren't really affected).

Any chance you can hang on to it until the spring and sell it then?

Yeah, I plan to hang onto it now until spring unless my fairy RX-7 Mother shows up with a bucket of cash to take it from me. And who knows, by next spring, maybe I will no longer have to sell it. If you have never driven one before, I can tell you, there is nothing quite like it. The engine is very quiet being a rotary, so all you hear is the exhaust note. kind of like an electric car that pulls like a freight train. And is brakes just as well. Bang for the buck, I don't think there is a better car out there.
