Rumored price decrease for 2008 on CAD cars......
14%..........
If true, and a little birdie who is very connected told me......when combined with the 6.1% duty, the freight, carrying costs and the $4000 gas guzzler tax, it means new Porsches from the US will be very close to Canadian cars here.
Used cars will still be good deals simply because of the sheer volume of available product and the already depressed US rices......but new cars are going to be very close now, especially since I understand US prices have been increased somewhat.

Thanks YYC930! Doesn't the gas guzzler tax only affect the manufacturer? By this I mean that anyone bringing a new P-car across the border would not have to pay the gas guzzler tax, correct? Thanks for any help you can provide!

It will be interesting to see what this does to the used car market in Canada. Pfaff has pricing for a few 2008 models on theit website inventory. For example, a 997S Cab with option code MA - Market Adjustment; lists at $123k MSRP while both Pfaff and DFC have similarly equipped used 2006 997S Cabs at $119k.
Clearly some inventory re-pricing is in order!
What do you guys think would be a reasonable offer on the '06 997S Cabs? $95k?? Less???

The Cayenne price reduction and additional standard equipment is equivalent to a 8.3% decrease in MSRP. Option prices remain the same...

Where did you get the info. on Cayenne price reduction? the Canadian Porsche website has "MSRP = to be announced", and Pfaff car price does not have "market adjustment" on their 2008 Cayenne inventory.

Tim, I am considering a lease on a Cayenne Tip for my DD and got the quote from a local TO dealer today. I compared the quote to the P-Canada web site prices to come up with the percentage drop.
Congrats PbPedis! What did you pick-up?

2008 997 Twin Turbo. It's tough to tell what the price is based on the invoice as all the options are added in. MSRP for the '07 model was $170,700. I'm told for '08 it is $158K with sport chrono/heated seats as free options! This car is the deal of the century now.

Wow, that's great PB...may you have many miles of smiles There is no doubt that the 8% helps in the decision concerning buying here rather than the US...
