$42K USD approximately once you subtract, GST, duty, shipping, brokerage, fees, PPI, etc, etc, and a 14% exchange rate.............a fair price if the car passes a PPI.

I have a 96 993 C2 with 65 kms for $59,500..............and lots of action on the car.

Why would you substract?? it's 55K CAD + GST + broker fess + + +

59.5K for a C2S I really don't have a hard time believing you about all the action around it.

Because it's a private sale, so no GST and PST in Alberta...

It's a C2 actually.....I corrected my typo........

But like Conekiller said, you back out everything associated with importation expenses to determine what a US price would be on private sale if the car is already here in the country. It's the only way to guage a relative valuation before you do a PPI.

The 993's really hold their value.
A 2001 996 is on the UCR website with 78Km for 52,900.

That's because they are the last of the aircooled engines with a dry sump oiling system....The 996TT uses the same block from the 993...

I am seing it more and more often . I was at a dealer this weekend and he wanted more for hi 993 than his 996 on the lot. I don't remember the specifics but it was something like 56 for the 993 and and 53 for the 996. Can't be good news for 996 owners to see their cars depreciating faster than the previous generation. I thought this was a one off thing but I am seeing it more and more.

The same thing is happening to 993 turbos versus 996 turbos as well.......in many cases now the prices are the same or more for the 993 if it is a pristine example.

I attribute the whole 996 depreciation thing to two factors........it was overbuilt by about 5-1 and it looks exactly like the Boxster, which was introduced 2 years earlier than the 996.

A huge error on their part IMHO, and confirmed by the 997 facelift. It's not really a bad car.........but to me the 993 is a better car..........and being the last of the air cooled ones is just a bonus in my books.

993 is a better car than a 997? how high were you when you typed this?
this really is a silly argument....as far as im concerned and as far as well trained factory porsche techs i know are concerned...993 are nothing special. this urban myth about how wonderful they are is silly. they drive worse, ride worse and are slower than the newer cars. they also arent built better like people think. the values have held up because silly people think the 993 should be in a certain price range and thats the only reason. same stupid reason 60's cudas can sell for 100's of thousands...
and for reference i have driven many 993 and have owned,boxtser,996 C2S with X51 ,GT3 and 997S. i also just drove a pristine 1997 993C2S and i wouldnt take it for free. nice car but....ITS 10 YEARS OLD...do you want your 10 year old computer or cellphone back?
10 years old anything aint better than new unless its wine and sometimes those suck too.

Noble this is not really an arguement at all , all we are saying is that the people have spoken. You can say how great the 996's are as loud and as often as you want compared to the 993 , but it is what it is, and the 993s are holding their value better.
The proofs in the pudding I guess.

I also agree with YYC about the looks. I was looking on the weekend because I want a 993 , I have no desire to own a 996 because I like the looks of the 993 way better.. and the Turbo ? regardless of performance or "newness" I don't care if it's 10 years old . It is one of the nicest looking Porsches ever built and I would take that one first over a 996 turbo . ( that is of course if I had the money for either ) . Just my opinion but it would apear the masses agree...

Have a good one.

i have a good one now i need a big one...sorry the masses have spoken and thats why porsche dont make the 993 anymore. im saying the prices are silly as the car is just an older porsche not some mythical vehicle. newer car is better than older car period. no matter what the silly 993 lovers think. there is no reason for a car that is slower, older, brakes worse, handles worse to be more than the newer better model except that someone started a trend and the sheep followed. if you are so convinced that an old car is better than a new one you have blinders on. if you just prefer the older one that is a different story

Noble........

The context of my paragraph was about 993 versus 996. The 997 is not part of the comparison.......althought they "are" dropping pretty fast..........

again....993 isnt a better car...you stated it is a better car......maybe people prefer it and it holds value better but it is in no way "better".
